Nothing kicks off brunch quite like a mimosa. Since this cocktail only requires 2 ingredients, let’s break them down so you can whip up a glass that’s just right.
The Juice
To bring that sweet and tangy flavor you can only find in fresh citrus, squeezing juice from fresh oranges is a must! If you want to squeeze your juice in advance, it can be kept refrigerated in a covered container for up to 2 days.
As far as variety, go for whatever you love to eat! Aromatic navel oranges, sweet cara cara, or crimson blood oranges will bring a variety of subtly different flavors and colors. Navel is the most classic, but no reason not to experiment. (Or mix ‘em!)
The Bubbles
To play off the sweet orange juice, we prefer a dry or semi-dry sparkling white wine. Since Champagne can be particularly pricey, a dry Prosecco or Cava will also do the trick. Whatever you choose, be sure to give it enough time to chill before serving.
Helpful tips:
If you prefer your cocktails on the sweeter side, bump up the orange juice to 3 ounces per glass, or go for a sweeter bottle of bubbly.
To play up the orange flavor, try adding a dash of orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or Cointreau, or a few dashes of orange bitters.
New to popping bottles? Here’s how you should *actually* open a bottle of Champagne.
