She's obsessed with the idea of bringing restaurant methods to the home cook with foolproof techniques and organized cooking (like how to safely shuck a clam or tackle a complex baking project). A graduate of ICE, she was previously a line cook, hospitality manager for the opening season of Little Island, and culinary assistant to Top Chef judge and food expert Gail Simmons. Her work has also appeared on Martha Stewart. There's no food she won’t try, but cranberry whipped feta dip has her heart.
Everyone’s favorite boozy coffee drink just got a holiday makeover. With a simple combo of Kahlúa, vodka, and heavy cream, the White Russian is already the king of creamy after-dinner cocktails, but adding a splash of peppermint schnapps makes it perfect for a seasonal celebration. Finish with a pinch of salt and a few peppermint candies, and meet your new favorite nightcap.
Creamy
If you’re not too keen on the idea of mixing heavy cream and alcohol, or you plan to drink a few of these babies (or you just don’t have heavy cream), feel free to swap in half-and-half or milk.
Coffee
The Kahlúa brings all of the coffee flavor to this drink, but if you want to take it a step further and amp up the coffee flavor without adding more alcohol, add a splash of cold brew.
Minty
We decided to skip the peppermint extract and peppermint-flavored vodka in favor of schnapps to ensure a nice balance of booziness and minty flavor.
Candy
Instead of the traditional candy cane garnish, deck out your glass with a chocolate-peppermint candy cane or a cocktail pick stacked with mini peppermint patties. If you can’t find mini peppermint patty candies, a full-size peppermint patty would work as well. You can also use crushed peppermint candy sticks to create a peppermint rim.
