Justin Sullivan is the Assistant Food Editor for Delish, where he helps test, develop, and (of course) taste recipes like one-pot meals, easy desserts, and everything in between. He has worked in professional kitchens across New York, but his favorite role will always be as matzoh ball sous chef to his grandma. He loves diners and being from New Jersey, and when he’s not prepping and testing hundreds of Delish recipes, Justin travels the globe as the world’s foremost chicken finger critic.
Though the trade and transport of alcohol was made illegal during Prohibition, this didn’t stop the American desire to party with a couple of cocktails. To make this possible, bootleggers would have to smuggle cases of kegs and bottles across state lines, dodging law enforcement to disseminate their wares to speakeasies across the country.
This dangerous task was colloquially known as rum-running, which is also the namesake for this classic tropical cocktail. True to its name, this drink has not one but two types of rum in it, and is balanced by the addition of fruity liqueurs and fresh juice, making it a perfect cocktail for a balmy day.
