From the outside, pineapples can look intimidating (those spikes!) and impossible to cut — but we know that juicy fruit is worth it. With these few simple steps, you'll see that there's actually zero reason to be intimidated. Let the pictures below guide you on your way to pineapple cutting glory.
1. Cut off the ends
Lay the pineapple on its side and and cut off the top and bottom.
2. Remove the skin.
Stand the pineapple up and, holding the knife parallel to the pineapple, shave off the outer skin. Try to cut off as little excess flesh as possible, so you get more fruit!
3. Slice into strips.
Halve pineapple lengthwise, then cut each piece in half again to create four long pieces .
4. Core it.
Slice off the tough core from each piece, then halve those; you should have eight pieces total.
5. Cut into triangles.
Slice each piece into 1/2" thick triangles.
You did it! Now go enjoy your freshly cut pineapple poolside with a Piña Colada.
